Three Persons, One Love | May 8

As Christians, we understandably give a lot of our attention and focus to Jesus... which makes sense. Often, He is the one we can relate to most easily. He became incarnate as a human being. We read about Him in the Bible and we hear about His life at church. But what about the other Persons of the Trinity?

Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Three Persons and One God. Did you know that each of them desires a relationship with you? We hear this explicitly in the Gospel today. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

You are the son or daughter of a Father that is ridiculously in love with you. You have a Brother, Jesus, who loves you and has reached out to you so that you might learn of the Father's immense love for you. You have an Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who works tirelessly on earth and in your life every day to reveal the Hearts of the Father and the Son to you.

Which member of the Trinity do you feel closest to? Maybe this isn't a question you've considered before. Great! Think about it now! As you pray, consider who that Person is to you? If it's Jesus, is He your brother? your closest friend? a good friend you feel like you haven't seen in a while? For a while when I was a missionary, Jesus was like my belay partner in rock climbing haha. If it's the Father, what is your relationship like? Is He near? far? loving and gentle? harsh and cold? If it's the Holy Spirit, is He powerful? timid? does He constantly whisper in your ear? or does He show up once in a while in powerful and enduring ways?

Each Person of the Most Holy Trinity longs for an intimate relationship with you, but often they take turns drawing close. They know we're human. They get it. Each one is God, and God wants to be close to you. Take some time to pray about your relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit today. If you feel really close to one, ask Him to reveal to you another. Like Jesus said, He came to reveal the Father.
