The archdiocese has received reports of fraudulent emails that appear to be coming from pastors. They are part of an international scheme that has emerged over the past few years. Scammers are trying to trick parishioners-believing that their pastor is requesting money or gift cards for various parish needs through email messages. Again, these are fraudulent emails. Official archdiocesan priest email addresses end in @dbqarch.org. These emails come from different addresses, often disguised to look like personal Gmail or Yahoo accounts. The body of these messages are generic and include phrases like "Are you in the office now?" and "How are you? Please contact me." Neither Fr. Miller nor any of the staff would ask for money or gift cards by email, so please ignore such an email if you receive one.

Scam Alert!!! Given the many unwanted and unsolicited phone calls that we may receive each day many of these are scams trying to obtain your private information including credit card, social security numbers & insurance information. They like to prey on the most vulnerable especially the elderly. It has come to my attention one of our elderly parishioners responded to one of these scams and is now receiving multiple boxes of expensive medical supplies that is being billed to her Medicare and secondary insurance. The family is having a difficult time stopping the arrival of these boxes each day. Be alert and be cautious.   Becky ~ Parish Nurse.

LENTEN REGULATIONS

* Everyone 14 years of age or over is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays in Lent.

* Everyone 18 years of age and under 59 years of age is bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

**On these two days of fast and abstinence, only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals on these two days is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not apply.

*Catholics should not lightly excuse themselves from the fast and abstinence prescribed by the church.
